The Buckland Bounder now has it's own website:

Well.. what a day that wasat the Buckland Monachorum Summer Fair this year.
The weather was perfect, although a little to hot for those who took part in the Buckland Bounder and Bouncer races.
A huge thank you to Jan Moore and her team for putting on the 2 races and the results for the Bounder on the left.
We had a lot of things going on, and the children of St Andrews School, provided us with choir singing, a maypole dance and competing in the great Slime off.
A variety of stalls were available, and the Hog roast and burger stand kept us fed during the afternoon.

A great turn out of doggies for the dog show and a big thank you to the Gables Farm dog & cats home for putting this on for us.
Music, near the newly laid village green was provided by the Drake Manor session musicians and the City of Plymouth Pipe band.

So a big thank you to Mandy, Garth and their team for the Hog Roast and Pimms Tent. Also thank you to all those that helped us to put on this event.

Finally a thank you to the villagers, who moved their vehicles, from the village street to alternative parking, to give us the room for the Fair.

This is the third year of the Buckland Bounder, a scenic multi terrain run of around 6 miles, starting in Buckland Monachorum as part of the annual Summer Fair. The event is open to participants over the age of 16 years, the numbers being limited to 200.

 The Fair

Buckland Monachorum Summer Fair has been traditionally held on the second Saturday in June for many years and the event seems to have developed from an older Village event known as the May Revels. For many years the Fair was held in the grounds of Pound House and for years took place in the grounds of the village primary school, St Andrews. The organising of the day is undertaken by Groups and Charities within the Parish and all profits from the day are shared by these organisations.

The Fair is now held in the street running through the village. The Fair normally begins at 13:00 with a fancy dress parade which starts at the Village Hall and ends outside the church. We have marching band who lead the parade. We have lots of stalls, refreshments and a family dog show. The Fair closes at around 16:30.

We do close the road officially from 10:30 - 17:30 in order to enable stall holders and groups to prepare for the day in a safe environment

We look forward to seeing you on the day.
